Africa Democracy and Governance (ADG or #AfricaDemocracy) is a regional nonprofit organization working to advance active citizen participation in democratic governance to strengthen ethical leadership in Africa, that is “based on "Inclusivity", "Afrocentricity" and "Ubuntu”.
Democracy in Africa as elsewhere, must derive from a constitutional structure which guarantees fundamental freedoms and rights and serves as the only basis of governance in a state of law. Elections results should matter. People's true will should matter. Active communication between the government and the citizens is always needed, even outside election season.
#AfricaDemocracy works with all branches and levels of government, civil society organizations, the media, and local communities to strengthen systems of democratic governance and promote participatory, representative, and inclusive political processes.
To be the vocal regional platform for African citizens to reinforce and protect values of democracy and good governance through participation and grassroots democracy.
A continent that fosters participative communities attuned to democratic precepts, who fearlessly engage their leaders in planning, implementation and accountability.
We do not impose democracy on any community. Instead we provide an enabling environment for African people to build their own African democratic philosophy.

Africa Democracy and Governance is a membership-based organisation. Our members are responsible for formulating ideas that feed into our policies, strategies and actions.
Democratic governance is a critical component of sustainable development and lasting peace. Countries that have inefficient Government institutions, rampant corruption and no rule of law face a high risk of civil war and criminal violence.
